Salma Nuur’s Parent To Be Event Review

When you find out the exciting news that – yay – you’re pregnant, knowing where to start can be tricky. That’s why we created our free Parent to Be events. In-store events where newly expectant parents can get to grips with everything, enjoy free expert advice and meet other like-minded parents-to-be. We sent our Parent Approved Panellist Salma along to see what she made of it. Here's her Parent to Be event review...

It’s time to get ready for your baby’s arrival, but where do you start?

Upon arrival at the store, the staff welcomed us with goodie bags. We were made to feel comfortable with complimentary refreshments throughout the event. We attended on a Sunday and it was really lovely having the store exclusively available to those attending. This gave us the opportunity to have a closer look at the available products without the crowds.

The free Mamas and Papas Parent To Be events are a great place to begin. Why? You will learn about parenting topics from experts and get ideas on what baby essentials you may need.

Shopping at the Parent to Be event

For me personally, I had a few products in mind that I wanted to look at. I find that there’s nothing better than seeing the products for yourself before making that all-important decision. It helps you figure out what actually meets your needs and ultimately, what you want to purchase. I went prepared with a list and a note pad. If you are unsure of what you need, this is a great opportunity to get ideas for your baby shopping list.

I learnt so much on the day despite this being my third pregnancy. My youngest is coming up to five years of age and I feel like so much has changed in terms of products that are now available. One key learning for me was taken away from the car seat demonstration. With ever-changing regulations, it's an area of expertise where you really need to soak up the knowledge from the experts. That way you feel equipped and reassured that you’re travelling safely with baby. Likewise, the baby first aid session was very useful and informative. In general, all the experts were great - answering any questions we had. They were engaging and I left feeling like I had gained something from each talk.

During the nursery talk, I discovered that when making the decision to buy a cot that converts to a toddler bed, you need to take this into account when buying the mattress. Not all mattresses will be suitable. This is something that had never occurred to me. When browsing their ranges, we noticed that Mamas & Papas products really are made to last, with great attention to detail.

An image taken at a Parents to Be event, a group of expectant parents are sat around listening to a talk in a Mamas and Papas store. Some of them are taking notes.

We participated in talks from various product categories and made aware of all the offers and buying options available to us. This saved precious time. It made me realise that Mamas & Papas stores truly are a one-stop-shop for parents to be. With a huge range of their own products and a wide range of brands on offer - you can get almost any product you can think of, for the arrival of your baby and beyond.

In summary...

I would absolutely recommend the event to all expecting parents. As this is my third pregnancy, I was not sure how much I was going to gain from attending. I was pleasantly surprised by the wealth of information and advice on the day and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think the Mamas & Papas team are doing an amazing job. They deliver the events at no cost to parents and with no obligation to buy.
