A new lease of life: we’ve partnered up with Oxfam

At Mamas & Papas we’re continually exploring new ways to improve our environmental impact. We’re also keen to make it easier for you, our customers, to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle. Which is why we’re excited to launch our latest initiative, an in-store ‘take-back’ scheme, in partnership with Oxfam.

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle has launched across Mamas & Papas stores nationwide, enabling you to easily and conveniently donate your pre-loved baby and children’s clothing, shoes, accessories and nursery items, so they can be given a new lease of life – either being re-sold in one of Oxfam’s stores or taken away to be responsibly recycled. The scheme is available at 26 of our stores and can be used for any brand of baby clothing. There’s no limit to the amount of items you can donate in one go or the amount of times you can use the scheme.

Supporting the reduction in clothes going to landfill

Helping to build a more sustainable future is a part of our wider environmental strategy at Mamas & Papas. Did you know that an estimated £140 million of clothing* is sent to landfill each year in the UK? Which is why we wanted to make it more accessible, convenient and easy for our customers to donate the items they no longer need - that way we can all be a part of supporting the reduction in clothes going to landfill. At Mamas & Papas we always design our clothes to last, however we’re aware that the lifespan of baby and children’s clothing is inherently short. By increasing circularity and reducing waste, we’re aiming to limit this environmental impact. Our partnership with Oxfam ensures clothes can be reused, recycled or repurposed whilst raising vital funds to fight poverty and inequality around the world.

How you can donate

So, if you have a drawer full of outgrown baby outfits or your little one’s nursery is overdue a clear-out, here’s how you can donate your unwanted items:

  1. Find your local participating store in the list below, or visit our store locator page here.
  2. Pop in to your chosen store and look for the green Oxfam box – you can’t miss it!
  3. Add your bagged, unwanted baby and children's items. And remember, these can be any brand, they don’t need to be Mamas & Papas.

That’s it! Your donated items will be collected by Oxfam and given a new lease of life- responsibly recycled or re-sold via an Oxfam shop, raising money to fight poverty and inequality.

FAQs

What can I donate?

Any baby and children’s clothing, shoes, accessories and nursery items – they can be from any brand.

What will happen then?

Your pre-loved items will be collected by Oxfam and given a new lease of life - responsibly recycled or re-sold via an Oxfam shop, raising money to fight poverty and inequality.

How does this help the environment?

By reducing waste. An estimated £140 million worth of clothing* goes into landfill each year in the UK, so by donating your unwanted clothing items (instead of binning them) you’ll be actively reducing landfill. By improving circularity, your pre-loved items will potentially be given a new lease of life. Also, from a social perspective, you’ll be helping to raise vital charitable funds.

Is there a limit on how much I can donate?

No. There’s no limit to how many items you can donate, and there’s no limit on how many times you use this service.
